IronDog Construction Outreach
When: Arrive in Anchorage no later than mid-day February 19th (18th would be better to get adjusted to Alaska); departing out of Anchorage late Sunday Night March 1st or anytime March 2nd depending on flights available.
Who: This trip is for people who are extremist! You will be working in a high energy atmosphere in sub-arctic temperatures (it could be 25-35 below zero). MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE WINTER GEAR ON THE GEAR LIST!!
What: The Iron Dog race brings a World Class Event across the State of Alaska each February impacting over twenty five Alaskan communities. Our job is to assist the race officials, racers and racers families. In 2015 the race will have a new starting line in downtown Anchorage, Alaska with setting up the start line on Friday Night into Saturday Morning. This sounds like an easy task, but there is more to it than you can imagine. On Saturday in Anchorage and then Sunday at Big Lake we help facilitate the "Pro-Class" start and help with crowd control, official and racer needs, and prayer support for racers and families. At the end of the day, we break everything down, load it into a 53' trailer and get ready for our next trek to Nome, Alaska. We will fly to Nome on 23rd, depending on weather and begin assisting the race officials and setup of the half-way garage, banquet, and finish line. On the 26th, we will fly to Fairbanks where we will set up the finish line, assist officials and break everything down, repack the trailer and head to the awards banquet. We will be wrapping everything up and heading home on Sunday March 1.
Cost: We are not charging a project mission fee; all group cost are split; all meals are your responsibility.
